t-t-t-Tango

This might sound strange, but whenever I think of intense passionate love (of course I'm speaking of my own), I picture the tango. Now Bryan and I have never danced the tango. He can not make eye contact when he dances. Once we took a dance class at the local Senior Center...it was his punishment...and he could not look me in the eye because he was concentrating so hard. We did fox trot, swing and salsa...but no tango.

I think the tango is so expressive. It is very sensual and strong. If I had to express to someone how I feel about love, I would tango. Perhaps I'll take a class. My favorite movie tangos, which are not classic tangos but get me all riled up are these:

I mean, in case you were ever wondering.

Obviously a huge Fosse fan, The Cellblock Tango from Chicago

El Tango de Roxanne from Moulin Rouge

Anway...yep the tango, so where was I?

Last Friday I went to see the Mark Morris Dance Group at The Paramount with my Mother in law Kathy and my Mom. The show was so so. Sometimes I am not a big contemporary dance lover. It depends on how abstract the piece is. The music however was fantastic (The Seattle Symphony) as was the dinner we had at Tango.

The famous El Diablo for dessert. SO GOOD!

It was very similar to Toro Bravo in Portland, but we'll definitely go back!

  1. My blue collar brain with its blue collar food that feeds it as always is confused at the pictures of food that don't look like normal food.

I think I'm going to try some food that doesn't look like normal food. It looks like good food.

  4. I'm impressed you were able to talk Bryan into taking a dance class with you! The tango is one of my favorites to watch too!

  5. I love the tango as well!! Do you watch Dancing With the Stars?? They had some good Argentine Tango's on there the other night. Philip is just like Bryan, he considers dancing punishment. On our cruise last year I made him take a salsa dance class with me, he was no bueno and he wouldn't look me in the eye either. Oh, boys.

  6. Like the way you cleverly combined Dance Tango and Dinner Tango. Never easy to pull off with the constant threat of spillage followed by slippage.....

However, you just missed out on an all expenses paid trip to your house, if only you had got managed to squeeze in Tango the drink, you would have been this weeks winner…. Perhaps your are fortunate not to have Tango the fizzy drink of death (containing as it does more E numbers than your average delinquent kid can safely handle*). Just feed it to them and stand well back and wait for the fireworks...) , in the states or you already had your hands full of Bryan (looking everywhere but directly at you) and plates of sumptuous food…Or perhaps they didn’t allow drinks on the dance floor…..

    * Don’t try this at home, always make sure you are at someone else’s house…That way they get to deal with the aftermath…..

  7. You're killing me with the food pictures! Nice to know at least someone eats more than tacos and spaghetti.

My Mexican fiance is amazing at salsa. I'm good at salsa, considering the fact that I'm white. I still suck in comparison to my Mexican friends, though.

  12. I should not have read that post while I was hungry - the food looks awesome!

The tango. Swoon. I too have never danced the tango but it does seem oh, so romantic. And for some reason whenever I picture the tango - I picture it with Antonio Bandaras!

  13. Mike- You should, you won't regret it. Okay I guess that depends on what it is.

Diana- That place is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. I'm saving some of the photos.

Krysten- I need to take lessons too!

Alissa- Don't be impressed. It was his punishment for something ;)

Mandy- Why must those boys be so difficult? It really was his punishement though. He messed up and I said, fine you have to take dance lessons to make it up to me ;)

Bullie_Mama- You should go! My Mom's already gone again!

BlackLOG- I've never had that drink before. But if I had known what was at stake I could've come up with something!

gringationcancun- a dancing fiance?!?! I'm so jealous. We eat lots of spaghetti and tacos too.

Chelsea- Wish I was there too!!! Yes you'll love it. Especially the sangria.

    Sheree- Thanks lady!

lorenabr- Your etsy shop looks great! Love the photos and can't wait to see more stuff!

Carissa- I missed the first episode! I was on a plane to San Diego, but I figured it would just be Sex dancing...was I right?

Saucy Scribe Debora- Um yes...I would LOVE to dance the tango with Antonio Bandaras. I'd really like to do anything with Antonio Bandaras ;)

  14. You are so right: the Tango is the sexiest and best dance around. And I need a description of that El Diablo dessert!

  15. Jenifer- Oh it is sooo good. It's a chocolate mousse on a bed of half baked merengue with caramel and almonds. The mousse is covered in cocoa powder and cayenne pepper so it has a kick to it.
