Honey, let's paint the house black
Maybe just a few walls? I've been stressing so much about adding color to my house it's starting to look like Rainbow Bright threw up. Now all I want to do is paint everything white. Then I was hanging out over at Design Dump and saw her office remodel from last year. Now I want to paint my walls black. I'm in love.

Wow; what a beautiful room. Just look at that molding and the doors....and here I sit looking at popcorn ceilings.......sigh!!!! The black is fabulous in this room.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Diana -- the molding helps.
ReplyDeletei love this! i am having a serious color dilema in my office and need to figure it out asap!
ReplyDeleteso classy, I never would have thought of it.
ReplyDeleteOMG, I LOVE THIS! I've got to check out more of her site, obviously. I think you need a black room with that big, beautiful crown molding for sure! I love the picture grouping too. I wonder what they are of...

Hm.... I am usually one that likes everything clean and white (or beige-y). But that black looks pretty click to me! Nice find!
ReplyDeleteThese have always been some of my fav of black walls, so beautiful. I would love a black dining room, it would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteLife is short, and this is gorgeous. Go for it.
ReplyDeleteThe contrast of the moulding and the floor help balance out the black. I think you can make it work! I love color, can't stand plain white walls, but black would be a stretch for me. Post a photo if you decide to make the leap!
ReplyDeleteoooh lala! love it. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you do a black finish, you should stencil / paint on gold trimwork for fun.
ReplyDeleteAlso consider using Venetian style plaster for more interest in the texture than would be in a latex / eggshell / satin normal style paint.
It's beautiful! Be careful... you have to have a pretty bright space in order for the black not to look depressing! From what I've seen in your house, though, you could definitely use black in a few areas.
ReplyDeleteOnce you go black you never go back. And i say that not because i have dated a brotha but because black is a B*tch to paint over! :) I love this room. I think if you did it, you would have to make sure you had a large amount of white contrast though, like the thick moulding in this room.
ReplyDeleteSuper classy. Another option is gray: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/dc/bathroom/inspiration-gray-rooms-128489
ReplyDeleteI definitely second (third? fourth?) all the comments about the fabulous effect of the white+black contrast!
I say go for it- if you have alot of light, it can be so chic...ala this room! :)
