Flashback Friday: Bangs...a mistake?

During spring break my Freshman year of high school I stood in my girlfriend's bathroom and made a mistake. I took the scissors to my head and cut some fluttery bangs. Yuck.

Then I had to go to prom...not pretty.

That's me with my eyes half closed

Focus on the bangs, not the beautiful pink dress you're wondering if I still have and can you burn borrow it? Oh I still have it.

But now I'm thinking bangs again. When I saw Kendi's thick fringe I fell in love. I don't have a lot of hair though. Think I could pull it off?

She obviously has kick ass style to go with it. I could bring it...I could.

One lonely can of coconut milk

Last Wednesday night I had plans to go to hot yoga. I hydrated all day long then realized that they changed the schedule on me and Men's Yoga was in my usual time slot. I went to the class anyway. Okay no I didn't, I lack balls. Obviously or I would have been invited in. But it would have made a good story. So Tuesday night I make plans to go to hot yoga...but it was power vinyasa and it would have killed me. So instead I made these yummy recipes with one lonely can of coconut milk. It was like a yoga retreat...without the yoga.

Thai Coconut Curry Shrimp Recipe - : 2 servings (serving size: 1 cup)

Ingredients
1 teaspoon canola oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 teaspoon red curry paste (such as Thai Kitchen)
1 teaspoon sugar
12 ounces large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/3 cup light coconut milk
2 teaspoons fish sauce
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil

Preparation
1. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and curry paste to pan, and sauté 1 minute, stirring occasionally. Stir in sugar; sauté 15 seconds. Add shrimp; sauté 3 minutes or until shrimp are done, stirring frequently. Stir in coconut milk and fish sauce; cook 30 seconds or until thoroughly heated. Remove from heat; stir in green onions and basil." Serve over rice.

Banana Ice Cream Recipe - Daily Unadventures in Cooking: "Raw Banana Ice Cream Recipe"(makes 1 big serving)

Adapted from here

2 1/2 frozen bananas
2 tablespoons water (or almond milk, or regular milk, or light coconut milk)

optional add-ins: a Chunk of dark chocolate, a handful of almonds, etc

Add frozen bananas to a food processor or vitamixer. Add water and blend for 5 minutes or until blended scraping sides of bowl occasionally.

Tip- I used very ripe bananas I had in the freezer for banana bread. Frozen in their peel. I nearly got frostbite trying to peel the suckers. Run under warm water for a few seconds if bananas are frozen in peel.

A taste of my own medicine

He has been bitten.

Oh lordy what I have done? Last week we finally got on the True Blood bandwagon and now Bryan can't get enough. We're Netflixing and almost through the first season, and he keeps giving me updates on when the next disc will be here. Obnoxious. I told him I'd like to read the 2nd book before we watch season two, and he told me he'd watch it without me if I didn't hurry up. Excuse me?

I'm happy we're finally enjoying a show together, aside from NBC Thursday nights. But I need my sleep and the man wants to stay up all night and have a marathon viewing. I actually slept in until noon last Sunday. I guess I don't feel the need to drive through them since I know what happens. He also does that annoying thing that he hates that I do. You know, asks questions about whats happening? Ugggh. I've had a taste of my own medicine. It could be worse ;)

On the other hand, I can't get enough of Stephen Moyer and find myself saying "Sookie is MINE" during those quiet moments when we're lying in bed trying to go to sleep. God I love the way he says her name.

In the market for a new rug?

Hey me too! I love all these from Thomas Paul, and since my house is patternless...I figure I can afford to go bold. Help me choose!

Dinner with the Cougs

This weekend I had some College friends over for dinner. Hold on to your ovaries...lots of cute blonde baby photos coming up.

Food for thought: I think if I had children I'd be anorexic. I was so busy making honking noises when he squeezed my nose that I forgot to take pictures of the dinner!

Then we pulled out Apples to Apples for old times sake.

It's not the same as when we made it a drinking game in College, but still a good time.

Thanks everyone for coming, it was great to see you!

Lakeside Wedding

Want to know something creepy? I keep wedding files for my friends. If I see an image that reminds me of them, or something they might want at their wedding, I save it to a file labeled "so and so's wedding." Yep, it's sad. Anyway. I thought I would secretly share one with you. Heck I might share them all. But I won't tell you who they're for. That would ruin my creepy fun!

This wedding was based around the fishing lure boutonnieres by Jack Spade.

Do you see Jakey Gyllenhaal in there? Also those adorable picnic basket favors were featured on Gordon Gossip. Yesterday Jenifer of Gordon Gossip posted some of my crafty photos from Danielle's baby shower. Thanks so much Jenifer! Check her out sometime, she rounds up all the best projects. Makes me want to throw parties all day long!

Giveaway? What Giveaway?....Twilight?

Oh wow. I said I was doing a giveaway and then I completely forgot. How nice of me. Luckily, no one commented past Sunday, so we're golden.

And the winner is comment #

Philip and Mandy! Mandy send me your size and color choice. Shall I make one for Philip too? ;)

Read the first book of the Sookie Stackhouse Novels this weekend "Dead until Dark" (thanks Erin!) in effort to ween myself off of Twilight. It's almost been two years...move on already sheesh! Was slightly angry with Stephenie Meyer after I finished as there are a lot of similarities. The Sookie Stackhouse novels came first...hmm.

Perfect timing too because last night we got the first 2 episodes of True Blood on Netflix. I think Bryan tolerated it because there was a good amount of nudity. I tolerated it because Stephen Moyer is HOT! Not a big fan of how Anna Paquin plays Sookie, just because I didn't picture her so ditsy, but I'm sure she'll grow on me. Just how I hope Stephen Moyer will grow on me...*wink* I keed, I keed. I'm a married woman. *cough* anyway...how did we get here? Jesus.

Monday night I went to dinner with my friend Vanessa and her guy and wouldn't you know it, after a little sake, I some how brought up Twilight. People. Must. Hate me. But he was a very nice guy and said that he did try to read it on recommendation. After a few too many chapters of longing gazes, he gave it up. Now that is a man my friend. He didn't hate right off the bat because his wife became obsessed. He doesn't wish that Robert Pattinson dies a slow death. Who wishes that? No one I know. Anyway. We're getting off topic. What is the topic anyway? The point is...after the Sookie Stackhouse novels, and the last of Twilight Saga is out of theaters, I'm done. Done with vampires. Okay? So just two more years? Can you hold out that long? Course you can.

So what I really meant to say when I got on here was that Mandy won! Yay! Should I send you a copy of Twilight with your shirt?...

Raclette

Friday we had a little going away party for my Grandma as she is heading back to Switzerland this week. My parent's put together a wonderful spread of Raclette for everyone.

If you ever have Raclette with us, my Mom will tell you the story of how the cow herders would melt a wheel of cheese by the fire and scrape it onto potatoes or bread. Then she will tell you that you should only drink warm beverages such as tea or wine so that the cheese does not harden in your stomach and make you sick. She reminds us every time and because I have gotten sick myself, I'm forced to drink lots of wine with this meal.

For some reason the Swiss have a lot of cooking contraptions for social gatherings. When Bryan and I began dating, he questioned why they had so many (fondue pots, raclette machines). I don't question anything that has to do with food.

It took a lot of persuading to get him to hold that flag up....
