Now the question is...Switzerland and France, or Switzerland and Italy? We have to go to Switzerland because important people live there.
I really really wanted to do Italy, but time and money keeps us from getting as far south as I'd like. So I told myself, do Paris this time. Just the two of us.
It would look a little like this...

Kissing in a private place because Bryan hates PDAs
{via here}
See...he'd totally know people were watching us and thinking we're in love. The horror!
I might need this photo framed because it's me totally in the moment, and him watching his back.

And we'd eat Nutella crepes...or I would.
But I would find the stinkiest blue cheese for him because I just found out that's his weakness...
After 9 years I just found that out.
And then, in 6ish years...when there are kids (adopted, borrowed, or via c-section).
We'll go to Southern Italy and hang out at the beaches and go wine tasting...
What? Kids like wine tasting...they'll be too busy playing with the barn cat

I'll get a fedora for the occasion

And my babes will be bronzed and playing in the sand.
ya ya, I know I'll be a hypocondriac and put them in swim shirts,
immediately targeting us as Americans.

But seriously my kids will probably be like this anyway.
Forget the barn cats.

We'd eat lots of gelato...and they'd get pissed because I ate most of theirs
Or I could just show Bryan this article about Newfoundland lifeguards in Ostia, Italy
and we'd be on a plane next week.

It all makes sense in my head.

"adopted, borrowed, or via c-section" - hilarity. but seriously, I'm with you.
ReplyDeleteeither way, france or italy you can't go wrong! I'd be partial to france but only because I haven't been there - I love italy though, capri is amazing! have fun cleaning out the attic! :)
It makes sense in my head too!!!!!! CAN WE TOTALLY MEET UP IF YOU COME TO SWITZ?!?! Come see me in Luzern or I'll come see you!
ReplyDeletehilarious. i love the part about the kids and the barn cat. think you could shove me in one of your bags so that i could tag along??
ReplyDeleteLOL! Your sooo funny. I say Switzerland & France. But it's purely selfish. Because I'm thinking that in a few years we can rent a big house in Italy. On the beach with the fam, & fly Grand Maman over ;) Jackson & baby girl would have so much fun with their cousins!
ReplyDeletePlease go! I said this would be our year too and then Eric has decided he could care less. We will all live through you!
ReplyDeleteI think France over Italy. Love both, but Paris is, well...Paris. The city of love. A romantic spot to be. Oui Oui.
ReplyDeleteOh I almost couldn't finish this post because I was so jealous. Ha ha. I have never even been to Europe, but my vote is France!
ReplyDeleteexciting! i saw on fb you liked a house for rent in france so i was thinking...you guys were taking it bit more seriously. i'm so happy for you!!
ReplyDeleteA few things; I have yet to see a cutsheet on pricing, the attic is untouched still, if we go see newfoundlands I will be shipping one home. Also, the latter part of this post is out of control - pics of naked children, kids drinking alcohol!!
ReplyDeleteHi Nikki,
ReplyDeleteI linked here from Alissa's blog (I'm her Mom). Your title in the side bar made me click!
I vote Italy, just because I made a 3 wk trip there a few yrs ago. (was there many many yrs ago too)
You'd LOVE northern Italy, I spent all my time there (plus a day in Switzerland).
The furthest south I went this trip was Siena.
Go to the areas around Lk Como (Varenna is a perfectly charming wonderful town right on the lake), the Dolomites (alpi di suisi, Castelrotto) the Cinque Terre....to die for, and of course Venice!
I would go back to all these places in a heart beat!!!
I've put I few pics up on my current blog of Florence and Sienna, working on more eventually.

Here's the blog that I did just of the trip:

Of course, I'd love to see France too!
Curious to see where you decide!
This was already funny, esp the part about the attic ultimatum. And then I read Bryan's comment...and now it is hysterical.
ReplyDeleteha ha, you both are hilarious and I can't wait to see the finsihed itinerary.
ReplyDeleteMan... I don't even know how I'd make a choice like that! I've been wanting to go to both France AND Italy so it'd be a hard choice for me!
ReplyDelete(I'm always the one to give ultimatums like that, hehe, I like his style).
Oh...I am completely in love with Italy and I have never been there. Same thing with Greece.
ReplyDeleteBut I feel like if you are on a short time frame and want to fit in two places, do France and Switzerland.
I feel like Italy needs it's own vacation.
I am more jealous than you can imagine.
this all sounds great to me! :D

Sooo funny this post! Hey I spent three weeks camping in Ostia when I was 8yrs old...but enough said...I must relax now ;)
ReplyDeleteWhatever you choose, take lots of pictures!
ReplyDeleteC-section? Ahhh, that's my biggest fear!
We did both in one trip and preferred Italy. But if you do Paris - we've heard that the night bike tour through Paris is a must-do. Something about wine and gelato... :-)
