29, the year of change

Birthdays are a bit like climbing into a cold lake.  At first you're like "eeeeeeek, it's freezing", but then you either go numb...or get used to things.  I'm used to water now, the shock of it is over and I'm looking forward to my 29th year.  Although I am a little worried that this could be the year of crap (that's in the Chinese calendar isn't it?).  I've already failed at two recipes, and usually I'm pretty good at following them.  I hope that isn't a glimpse of the year ahead!

I had a lovely celebration with my family on Tuesday night.  The weather was perfect for an outdoor dinner, and we even had a visit from a little deer while we were eating.

We love banners in this family

You know you have kids when fish crackers become an appetizer ;)
My Rose Sangria to the right?  Fail.  Too sour.

Figs with cambonzola and procuitto

Bryan and my Dad making paella
Yes my Dad is wearing a tuxedo shirt

Babies!

It was a two paella pan night

Thanks for the wonderful party family!

One more year until 30...

  12. Happy Happy Birthday! I, too, am 29...I'll be 30 in five months. So far it has been a wonderful year!
But never fear! I hear 30 is the new 20. So if we really think about it, it's like we are turning 20 all over again! :)
