We had a wonderful, low key Christmas this year. Low key in that we had two less places to run off to and you know what? I sort of missed the chaos. I am one of those cram it all in sort of people because why the neck not? It's only two days a year and we can handle it. But alas, traditions are changing with age and I should probably learn to accept it rather than fight it.
Although I really did miss the lack of yorkshire pudding...
Christmas Eve we hung with Bryan's family, clam dip (which is basically a guest on its own) and orange cranberry vodka tonics. Then we went home and watched A Christmas Story...and ate more clam dip!!
Bryan and Jim, and Kathy's gingerbread cake
One of those new traditions I will now refuse to let go...
See? Embracing!
Christmas morning I enjoyed a PW Cinnamon Roll my SIL made
and finally started reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I read all day Monday too...never got dressed,
and wished I had more cinnamon rolls ;)
Then we went to Bryan's Dad's for seafood and presents!
We had mulled wine, crab and steamers
Sufficiently stuffed and spoiled before taking off
for dinner at my parents
(undid one button on my pants right about here...)
Guess who's back in town!
My Grandmaman...don't you know her by now?
Opening the last of the gifts
Jackson couldn't decide what to play with
Ava finally gives her Uncle Bryan the time of day...and likewise
Snuggling her new baby
Great, Grand and Parents and their Grandchildren
How was your Christmas?

That's a lot of seafood!! Believe or not we had none. Brad can't do a lot of shellfish anymore.. Gives him gout :(
ReplyDeleteInstead it seems we had a lot of game meat. Venison, goose..yum.
I take it your family and Bryan's all live near each other?
I'm in the middle of my recap. My parents came in and we spent it with Brad's as well. All in the family!
I'm planning on it being that way for years to come.
No traveling.. we all(BIL and SIL live in Charlotte too) stay here and the rents travel to us!
Ava is getting 'so big'. It is so nice your Grandmamm can come and be with you. Merry Christmas...it is still the season.
ReplyDeletewow, you ate a lot of seafood--looks good!! also, you haven't read the girl with the dragon tattoo yet?! good thing you've started it so that you can go and see the movie--it's so good!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a very blessed Christmas! YAY! I'm a huge fan of family!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun holiday! I need that gingerbread cake. Let me know how your book ends - I've been tempted with that one several times. I do have the week off, but I'm deep cleaning my house. Is that really time off?
ReplyDeleteSeafood and Christmas! Nothing goes together better than that!! LOL. I agree with you though, Christmas isnt quite the same without the chaos we are used to!
ReplyDeleteAww I love your family :)
ReplyDeleteHow are you liking Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? I just saw the new movie Christmas Day.
