a very shitty weekend

Whelp, we had the weekend from hell...how was yours? ;)

It started out with the toilet not flushing correctly and evolved into a getting our septic pumped, our lines augured, then crossing our fingers we wouldn't have to have our drain field replaced.  That's exactly what happened to our neighbor who then couldn't pay the contractor and had to foreclose.  Luckily I live with a handy man and he was able to troubleshoot the strangest things and figure out that our problem was electrical.  Whoo hoo!  I had to man the electrical panel flipping the breakers on and off on command.  It felt much like Christmas Vacation when they're trying to get the Christmas lights to work, only with a less exciting outcome.  I still did sing Hallelujah the first 5 times...

We still had to dish out some cash, but not as much as we feared.  Thank God for Christmas bonuses...even if that's not what I had planned for it.

We were without a toilet for Friday and Saturday, then we bought a new toilet (kinda exciting), but the lid was missing parts...so we had a toilet but no lid, which is very confusing in the middle of the night.

Bryan was in such a lovely mood dealing with all this shit (that's what the house smelled like), I got out on Saturday to do some Christmas shopping...and I lost my cell phone.  I never found it, but on the bright side it was giving me "no sim card" errors the day before and not working so I might have had to replace it anyhow.

I went to a family cookie exchange on Saturday but skipped out on photos because I was in a foul mood.  I made a batch of gluten free samoas that failed and had to be thrown away.  Then I had to bake my gluten free ginger molasses cookies at my neighbors because I couldn't run the water at my house.

Merry Christmas to us...a new toilet, empty septic tank and a cell phone.  I feel truly blessed...no really ;)

  3. Oh dang, that's never any fun. Glad you got to fix everything for a lot less then you were thinking though! That's a good thing for sure!

  4. FACT: All toilet problems in Mexico can be fixed with a breadbag tie. (I've gotten pretty good at it... haven't called a plumber in years.)

Everyone seems to be having house and/or car problems lately. Must be the Christmas bonus curse!

At least you got cookies :)

  5. Glad to hear the septic tank wasn't as big of an issue as you thought. At least you got some new items out of the entire ordeal of a weekend.

  6. Suck. Those kind of days make you want to yell at somebody.

  7. Wow, that is rough! I hate those kinds of days and have my fingers crossed that the rest of your Christmas season and 2012 will be trouble free. :)

  8. And with that fool mood I supose the handy man still didn't present his bill... ;) ahahahahah So close to holidays and on a weekend, you should be trembling in your boots.

I really wanted to comiserate (just hope this is the right word, no time to go check google as I'm in Paradise ;)... no, not teasing, just stating :D) but as your post evolved I was torn between pretending I didn't read it and... no it was too good not to say something.

But friend, one way or the other we've all been in that... well, shit ;); that's why Murphy Law was created, I guess.

"""And on the eighth day God said, "Okay, Murphy, you're in charge!""""

At least you got cookies :) and if the mood improves you can have fun paying the handy man ahahahahah (tell Bryan no need to thank me ;))

    Take Care Sweet Girl!

  9. oh man, that sounds crazy! Glad you can look back and not lose your mind too much. Its always sad when bonuses have to get used for such lamo things (Mine is going to credit card debt this year, blargh). Merry Christmas!

  11. well...what a poopy weekend for you... We just had to have our tank pumped 5 weeks ago. I pray our drain field will not fail before we move from this aging lady.

Social Security doesn't give bonuses: dang!!

  12. Well, my weekend wasn't quite as poopy as yours. Actually it was quite nice, got lots done around the house.

Christmas bonus, what the heck is that???

Hope you enjoy your new phone, and have a great upcoming weekend.

I think the cookie fail is a sign that gluten free sucks ;-)

  13. Sorry your weekend was so bad but you know for sure this weekend will be tons better. When I first looked at the picture it looked like Bryan was wearing an elf hat, thought you may have gone for it instead of the Santa hat.
A messed up septic tank is what paved the way for claire to eat a tampon. Our unexpected Christmas bonuses paid for her 1st surgery so God does provide even for dogs and septic tanks!

  15. oh man. we had a shitty day yesterday but that consisted of my in-laws dogs getting sick and shitting everywhere... including our basement apartment when we were out. awesome.

seriously though, hope all the fixing goes well and enjoy that new toilet! ;)
