Pupdate!

Cheesy right?  Thought I'd give a quick update on Issy since I know you were all so worried... ;)

It's a broken toe!  Clean break that's why she let us wiggle it so much.  She's in a splint for 3 weeks, and she managed to chew off her first one in less than 24 hours.  She's been sentenced to the cone while she's alone.  I may or may not have had a little breakdown at the Vet's office ;)

This is splint #1, #2 is purple.

I'm a little worried for our housesitter...

Au revoir!

This is one of the things I'm looking forward to the most, breakfast at my Grandma's.
I'm sad that all the people in the photo won't be with me this trip,
but happy to share these memories with Bryan.

This has been quite the week for me.  It was filled with some wonderful things like celebrating and visiting with friends, and also filled with some not so good....like calling 911 after a man collapsed in our parking lot and trying to figure out if we should take Issy to the vet for her swollen paw.  I'm feeling unsettled but I hope the weekend will bring resolve.  And packing...lots of packing.

I'm starting my vacation now so I can get my house ready for the sitter and hopefully my dog nursed back to health so I don't have to worry.  I hope you have a wonderful next few weeks without me ;)

29, the year of change

Birthdays are a bit like climbing into a cold lake.  At first you're like "eeeeeeek, it's freezing", but then you either go numb...or get used to things.  I'm used to water now, the shock of it is over and I'm looking forward to my 29th year.  Although I am a little worried that this could be the year of crap (that's in the Chinese calendar isn't it?).  I've already failed at two recipes, and usually I'm pretty good at following them.  I hope that isn't a glimpse of the year ahead!

I had a lovely celebration with my family on Tuesday night.  The weather was perfect for an outdoor dinner, and we even had a visit from a little deer while we were eating.

We love banners in this family

Dogs-A-Foot, Port Townsend

Thank you for all the birthday wishes yesterday.  Thanks Jaime for outing me ;)  I had a wonderful dinner with family, photos to come, and I'm settling into 29 nicely.  I told Bryan the night before "this is the last time you'll ever kiss a 28 year old".  Lucky me I get to kiss one for a few more months.

Sunday I tagged along to Port Townsend with some friends for a little getaway.  Their family owns the popular hot dog stand Dogs-A-Foot so we made sure that was the main focus of our trip.  It was my first dog and it was wonderful.  I requested a surprise dog and loved it so much I ordered the same thing the next day!  If you're even in Port Townsend you must check it out.  Regular ketchup and mustard just won't do anymore.

Babies and Crabcakes

I got to do some of my favorite things this weekend.  Eat crabcakes and hold a baby.  Another blonde baby, you're going to be jealous ;)

Do you remember my last trip to San Diego to see my College roommate Chelsi? (click here if you're a goldfish)  Well finally I got to meet baby Henry!  He was such a good baby and charmed all the patrons at Tom Douglas' Dahlia Lounge where we had dinner.

Meet baby Henry

This is what he did when he saw my flash...so cute!

Safe to say, the best crabcakes you'll ever have.
With potato salad, butter pickles, heirloom tomatoes and Old Bay seasoned chips

Henry had noodles with mango and salmon in very expensive dishware...

Made to order donuts with apricot preserves and vanilla marscapone

We liked them...

Roomies!

Thanks for meeting up guys and letting me squeeze your little babe!

itinerary...eat

I'm feeling a little lame because I haven't put a whole lot on the itinerary for our trip.  I don't want to overwhelm Bryan and I felt a little neurotic on our trip to San Francisco last year trying to fit everything in.  Go with the flow...that's the plan.  That and eating...

Eating chocolate at the chalet in the Alps...always eating

Don't worry, we'll see some important stuff too.

Happy Labor Day weekend!  Tell me what you're up to.

Devil in the blue skirt

I picked up this blue suede skirt at the thrift store for $5.  What do you think?  Do I look like a smurf?
