Dumpling House

There's a new steamed dumpling house in Bellevue called Din Tai Fung and the other night we met some friends there for dinner.  The wait was long, 2 hours for a table, and we were hangry (hungry and angry).  In fact before the 2 hour wait had even started Bryan yelled at a valet guy for kindly telling us if we parked there we would get towed.  I had to call out my window thank you to the guy as we sped away...possibly running over his toe.  It's amazing how fast low blood sugar can turn you into a monster.

The wait was worth it, we were in steamed dumpling heaven and may have eaten 30 plus between us.  If you go, make sure you get the shrimp and pork dumplings!

Have you been?  If you're looking to go...9pm seems to be a less busy hour ;)

  2. Since we moved to a small town our dining options are pretty limited. Oh well. I enjoy eating vicariously through your photos.

  3. Hangry - love that word it describes my husband if he has to wait more than 15 minutes at a restaurant!

  4. We LOVE that place - SO tasty! Did you get any of the pork buns?? The dumplings are good, but my favorite is the pork/vegetable buns.

  6. Maybe it's the small(ish) town in me. Two hours? Really? You had a TWO HOUR wait and you still waited? I have never ever heard of that. Seriously. Those damned dumplings better have done your laundry, cleaned up after your dog and given all of you multiple orgasms.

On a brighter note, a new all you can eat sushi place opened up in my town and our wait was 0 hours. And it was delicious. There are certain advantages to living in the under 100,000 urban area.

The downside, of course, is having limited choices. We had to wait until 2005 to get an indian place and there are no dumpling places. Or other exotic places besides sushi.

  7. I've been hearing good things about it. I love me some dim sum.

I will not, however, ever order the shrimp and pork dumplings. I'm deathly allergic. Are you trying to kill me?!
